Sinn Féin in government will axe the water tax - McKee

Sinn Fein councillor Mike McKee has reiterated the position of Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald TD who said Sinn Féin in government will scrap water charges. He added that the public already pay for water through general taxation and that it is deeply unfair to heap the charge onto the shoulders of ordinary people who have borne the cost of austerity. Sinn Féin to hold a Peace Vigil for Gaza at Shannon Airport

Sinn Féin has organised a One Hour Peace Vigil at the entrance to Shannon Airport this Friday August 1st. The Vigil will highlight the increasing civilian deaths and in particular those of children by the ongoing assault on Gaza by Israeli forces. Read full article

Clare Post Offices Must be Protected - McKee

Rural post offices provide a vital service and are an indispensible part of the life of towns and villages. As such they should be protected from closures and cuts. Those opinions were put to us by a Clare county councillor this week. McKee Concerned by Ennis Hospital Revelations‏

Plans to close the acute psychiatric unit at Ennis General Hospital and the revelation that a new manager appointed by the HSE will receive a salary of €258,000 have been described as very concerning by one County Councillor. Sinn Féin Candidates Pledge Support for SIPTU Firefighter Campaign

SIPTU last week launched a nationwide campaign calling for election candidates to support fire services and oppose the implementation of measures the firefighters say will endanger lives. The union's Retained Firefighters Committee say the lives of both the public and their members will be at risk due to a reduction in crew levels on appliances. Read full article
